Surgery was started by Dr.
McGuinness as an ophthalmology practice dedicated to providing
the latest advances in eye care, to both young and old.
Dr. McGuinness has
been in practice for over 20 years and has provided care to treat and correct:
- Cataracts
- Glaucoma
- Diabetes
- Nearsightedness, Farsightedness, Astigmatism
We now offer CustomVue correction with our Visx Star S4 excimer laser. Using
WaveScan technology, our surgeons are able to measure and correct
unique imperfections in each individual's vision. Many of these
imperfections were previously unable to be measured by standard
techniques used for glasses and contact lenses. WaveScan is able to
measure the refractive error of the eye with much greater precision
and detail than a phoropter. It provides measurements to within
hundredths of a diopter. Like a fingerprint, the WavePrint map is
completely unique to every individual.

Brian T. McGuinness,

Dr. McGuinness is a
board certified ophthalmologist who trained at New York Eye and Ear
Infirmary, completed his undergraduate studies at Stanford University
and attended Medical School at SUNY Buffalo.
Dr. McGuinness
been performing LASIK surgery
since it's approval by the FDA in 1996.
Dr. McGuinness is on staff at Stony Brook university Hospital and New York Eye & Ear Infirmary in New York City.
